How will you incorporate what you learned in PL (this could include your practicum) into your job search?
I will incorporate what I learned in PL into my job search by using what I have learned about leadership when choosing the company I wish to work for. If I receive multiple job offers, I will research the leadership team and try to understand the company culture before making my final decision. I believe that what I learned in PL will help me stay ethical throughout all of my business activities, making me into the best possible leader I can be.
An elevator pitch about what you learned in PL and why its relevant for a job/position you’re interested in:
Recently I came across a job opportunity at the Tom James Clothing Company in Baltimore, Maryland. This position would require me to enter sales meetings and prospect new clients for the company. My elevator pitch is as follows:
"Hello! My name is Avery Porter and I am 19 years old. I am studying international business and finance at the Robert. H Smith Business School at the University of Maryland. I am super outgoing and have great knowledge in leadership skills. Being in the Public Leadership Scholars program, I have been able to access traits of successful leaders. I understand the need for direct instruction, but also value working in a consensus style. I have gained skills that help me lead a diverse group, such as behavioral analysis and immersion in new cultures. I feel I would be a great candidate for this position and look forward to speaking with you in the near future!"
